The world has become like a village due to the rapid development and use of information technology. Its multifaceted impact is felt in all areas. No one is considered to be completely successful.
History of ICT in Education
Information technology education is the basic condition for this. Even in educational institutions, it has become necessary to pay special attention to technical teaching and learning rather than traditional learning methods. If this is not done, the school will only turn into a factory producing the unemployed. It is with this fact in mind that the use of technology in teaching and learning has been started recently.
The use of technology in education is believed to have started with the government's distance education training for teachers. For this, separate branches and thematic experts were arranged at the center. The necessary training package was prepared according to the subject and level.
For the training, the teachers had to manage the radio themselves. The school was later provided with a radio. With the changing times, cassettes and CDs were also provided. The training, which benefited thousands of teachers, focused on the capacity building of teachers.
In Ancient Times Technology Education
With the advent of the Internet, online training for teachers began to be organized. The training was conducted by the Educational Manpower Development Center under the then Ministry of Education.
The aim was to enable the use of technology in capacity building and teaching and learning. Along with the increase in the capacity of teachers, the government budget was gradually allocated for the necessary infrastructure for the use of technology in schools.
For this, the Government of Nepal provided up to 5 computers to 1452 community schools from 2067 BS to 2069 BS. Based on its effectiveness, computers were provided to 7359 secondary and lower secondary schools in the country on cost-sharing a basis in the fiscal year 2070/071 BS.
For this Rs. 140,000 will be provided through the education department and 60,000 related schools will create an additional fund of Rs. 2,00,000 and from this fund, Five computers, printers, Arrangements were made to provide photocopy machines and internet.
The number of these devices was determined differently depending on the geographical location. At present, the Education and Human Resource Development Center have been allocating Rs. 650,000 per school every year to provide ICT LAB in additional schools by continuing this system. This arrangement has been continued by the State Ministry of Social Development and most of the local levels.
Trace the history of ICT Education
Government of Nepal. The Ministry of Science and Technology is working to declare and support model schools based on Model School Development and Operation Guideline 2074. These schools are required to have a well-equipped ICT lab and internet facility in addition to other activities.
The program, which was earlier started to build one model school in each constituency, is currently being implemented in one thousand secondary schools by 2022 AD under the School Area Development Program.
There are currently 35,055 institutional and public schools in the country. These include regular government programs and various NGOs, It is estimated that there are computers in about 15,000 schools arranged by individuals and related schools themselves.
A computer syllabus has been prepared by the Curriculum Development Center. Textbooks have been prepared for teaching computer subjects in schools from class six.
Some schools have been teaching computer subjects as a local curriculum since class 23. Some local-level and non-governmental organizations are preparing and broadcasting programs on radio and television. It is not important to teach the students to operate by providing computers in the school. He should have a learning environment rather than a computer.
The computer should contain daily learning topics. He should be able to effectively prepare the lessons from the textbook and put them on the computer and use those materials as if he had read the textbook. Those materials' Approval must be obtained from the Curriculum Development Center based on the curriculum.
The Center for Curriculum Development is also working to prepare such digital textbooks. But since these materials are produced every year, only a small number are produced. Videos of various subjects in classes 9 and 10 were prepared by the Educational Manpower Development Center.
